Different from the "most efficient" list — here we weight reliability, service network, parts cost, and resale value. After 7+ years, these are the brands that still cool reliably without surprise repair bills.
1. Mitsubishi Electric — most reliable
Lowest 5-year failure rate in Thai service data. Quietest indoor units. Slightly more expensive up front, but parts pricing is moderate and service centers exist in every province.
2. Daikin — best balance of efficiency and reliability
Top SEER ratings, R32 refrigerant by default, easy parts. Tends to be the safest "buy and forget for 10 years" choice.
3. Panasonic — strong warranty, good build
Tropical-condition tested. Aerowings models maintain SEER 19+. Service network is excellent in urban areas.
4. Haier — best value
Massive improvement over the last 3 years. Crystal series matches mid-tier Mitsubishi at 15–20% lower cost. 10-year compressor warranty makes the value math compelling.
5. Carrier — best for harsh environments
Workhorse compressors handle high humidity. Slightly less efficient than Daikin but excellent for coastal homes where corrosion is a concern.
Avoid for residential
"OEM specials" and unbranded units sold under hyper-local brand names. They look cheaper at point of sale, but parts disappear in 3 years and a single repair often costs more than the price gap to a major brand.
